Are You New To The Industry?

If you are entering the industry and hold no current qualification’s you will need to complete a series of theory workshops, verification’s and practical assessments to be qualified as an STMS. Complete the below workshops and assessments to the level you will require.

(TTM) Temporary Traffic Management Worker

(1 Day Theory & Practical Assessment)

This workshop trains new entrants to the industry the very basics and only what they need to know to work safely under instruction. I.e. how to setup a sign, what PPE to wear, no go zones, how to do manual traffic control. It’s essentially the company induction before you are put out on the road to work under an Site Traffic Management Supervisor (STMS). With this qualification you can’t do anything on the road without supervision.

(TMO-P) Traffic Management Operative - Practicing

(Practical, Verifications & Assessment)

The TMO is able to be delegated control of a worksite that has been set up by a STMS. Complete your verifications and assessment to be able to work on Category A and B roads. Once the TMO has completed the 4 verifications and 3 assessments, the TMO can mind any kind of worksite on Category A & B roads. The TMO can also setup worksites that don’t affect the carriageway. For example they can park legally and work on the footpath or berm.

(STMS-U) Site Traffic Management Specialist - Universal

(2 Day Workshop)

This is a two-day workshop and covers all of the universal information an STMS needs to know. Such as how to conduct a toolbox or site briefing, how to read a TMP, how to deal with incidents, how to manage risk. This is a theory only course and prepares an STMS to go on to one or more of the Categories (A, B and/or C).

(STMS A & B) Site Traffic Management Supervisor Category A & B Roads

(1.5 Day Workshop)

Complete the workshop and then move on to your verification’s and practical assessment’s.

STMS Category A Roads

(Practical, Verifications and Assessment)

Complete your verifications and assessment to be able to work on Category A: Low speed roads (60km/h and less)

STMS Category B Roads

(Practical, Verifications and Assessment)

Complete your verifications and assessment to be able to work on Category B: High speed two-way two lane roads (70km/h and more)

STMS Category C Roads

(1 Day workshop)

Complete the workshop and then move on to your verifications and assessment.

STMS Category C Roads

(Practical, Verifications and Assessment)

Complete your verifications and assessment to be able to work on Category C: High speed multi-lane roads (70km/h and more).
